PCRC seeks an Initiative Associate that thrives in school settings, youth programs, and community organizations working to empower youth with tools to empower themselves and encourage students to take an active role in policy and decision making all while providing and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

About Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center

Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC) was established in 1986 by a small group of concerned residents who wanted to help their neighbors resolve disputes. Since then, PCRC has grown to serve thousands of residents across the county each year, and has earned the reputation of being a highly knowledgeable and effective organization – buoyed by its unique ability to encourage the collective strengths of individuals, families and organizations to help improve communication, community engagement and conflict resolution throughout San Mateo County.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience and strong skills in meeting management, group facilitation, creating safe spaces, and holding difficult conversations with multiple stakeholders.

  • Content expertise in any one of the following: Community Engagement, Public Participation, Dialogue and Deliberation, Violence Prevention, Education, Youth Development, etc.

  • Proven ability to supervise multi-disciplinary program teams.

  • Experience managing partnerships with community-based organizations and/or law enforcement.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Training in facilitation and 40-hour basic mediation or equivalent. * If not trained at the time of hire, PCRC will provide the training to be completed outside of work hours as a term of employment

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficient in basic computer uses including data management, reporting, and design of basic outreach materials

  • Successful past experience in non-profit or community service organizations

  • Experience managing complex budgets, subcontractors, reporting, and grant writing

  • Ability to manage flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends

  • Ability to plan, initiate, and execute program activities in a timely manner

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with 1) partners from the community, non-profit, business, and government sectors 2) various levels of an organization, and 3) socio-economically diverse populations

  • Knowledge of San Mateo County is desirable

  • Ability to remain neutral and professional in emotionally charged situations

  • Willingness to promote the integrity and professionalism of PCRC

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and appropriate auto insurance

  • Minimum of two years of work experience in project management in a related field.

  • Completion of background check and fingerprinting

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program congruence with PCRC’s mission, vision, values, and business plan,

  • Deliver high-quality programming based on the agency’s core competencies,

  • Support collaboration between various schools, youth/family/community service agencies, and community members,

  • Meet data and other administrative deliverables,

  • Collaborates with the team to deliver high-quality training for various partners,

  • Participate as an agency member in various meetings and events

  • Represent PCRC in the community and connect the agency with a potential individual, community, and institutional partners,

  • Conducts community outreach for upcoming pieces of training and community events by using a variety of strategies including flyers, presentations at parent meetings, tabling at community events, phone calls to families

  • Mediate, facilitate, and train as needed by the agency

COmpensation and Benefits

  • PCRC is prepared to offer a competitive compensation package, which includes the anticipated starting salary of $49,000-$60,000/annually.

  • PCRC has a generous time-off policy, which includes 13 paid holidays, 4 floating holidays, 10 vacation days, and 10 managed days off each year. PCRC also covers 100% of medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance for employees.
