THRIVE POLICY & ADVOCACY
Often the most effective and efficient way to address our region’s toughest problems is through policy change. Most San Mateo County nonprofits’ primary mission is direct service, not advocacy, so Thrive Policy & Advocacy bridges that gap. Its purpose is to:
Monitor the policy landscape at the local, state, and federal level for issues that pertain to our community.
Communicate about these issues through our convenings and communication channels.
Advocate both with and on behalf of our nonprofits for positive change by harnessing the collective wisdom and power of our community.
Thrive Civic Participation works in tandem with Thrive Policy & Advocacy by strengthening our democracy so diverse voices are represented and heard.
Thrive Action Groups (TAGs)
Thrive Action Groups (TAGs) provide the opportunity to have in-depth cross-sector discussions with a narrow focus on these specific issue areas: Arts & Culture, Basic Needs & Safety Net, Children & Education, and Immigrants & Worker’s Rights. In keeping with our core value of collaboration, our TAGs , committees, and events are typically co-chaired or co-sponsored by member organizations. We invite you to participate in our Thrive Action Groups, our Special Initiatives work, and our convenings and trainings. Meetings are open to anyone in the community, but you must register.
