Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund: Development and Communications Coordinator

SV2 is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Development & Communications Coordinator to assist with donor recruitment and stewardship. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with an exciting group of local donors and dynamic social ventures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Development & Communications Coordinator will report to the Chief Operating & Portfolio Officer and work closely with the entire SV2 team. This role is essential to SV2’s small and agile team, helping to secure the funding that supports SV2’s mission. The ideal candidate is resourceful and proactive, providing both strategic and tactical support in managing donor relationships, and is enthusiastic about fundraising and communications that drive social impact.

Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2) is a nonprofit learning community that aims to enhance equity in the Bay Area through innovative giving, encompassing grantmaking, impact investing, and immersive learning. SV2 employs a trust-based philanthropy approach, providing unrestricted multi-year grants to diverse, mission-driven nonprofits while also investing in early-stage companies that prioritize social or environmental impact, particularly those led by underrepresented founders.   • AN IDEAL CANDIDATE BRINGS:

    • Experience in nonprofit fundraising or other related work within a social impact organization

    • Experience with Salesforce, Excel, and Google Workspace

    • Experience coordinating and executing events

    • Experience creating compelling visual and written documents using Google, Canva or other tools

      Responsibilies

  • Development:

    • Support the CEO’s donor portfolio through donor identification and research, preparing briefing materials for donor meetings, ensuring prompt follow-up to close gifts, and supporting appropriate donor stewardship

    • Maintain organized system for donor pipeline management by reviewing and updating database, recording appropriate follow-up actions, and uploading contact information

    • Work closely with the CEO and COO to track fundraising progress and support efforts to exceed annual revenue targets

    • Support donor retention through personalized communications and invitations to opportunities

    • Support online and in person events by monitoring registrations and entering attendance data in Salesforce

    • Schedule donor meetings on behalf of the CEO

    • Support Board members in donor engagement activities, creating a culture of inclusive donor stewardship

    • Support Board Development Committee meetings

    • Create and maintain fundraising reports and dashboards in Salesforce, Excel, and Google Suite

    • Support grant application and reporting processes

    • Provide support for other events and activities as needed

  • Communications:

    • Engage stakeholders through individualized communications

    • Draft bi-weekly eNews using Canva for content design and Active Campaign platform for distribution

    • Promote SV2’s social media presence through posting and content creation

    • Support SV2’s online collaboration platform

    • Support website updates

    • Track analytics for eNews and website to support engagement strategy

    • Manage and organize SV2 photos and other media

    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

COmpensation and Benefits

  • The annual starting salary for the Development & Communications Coordinator is $68,000 to $78,000. This full-time position meets the exemption requirements as defined by state and federal law. Hours are generally regular business hours, with occasional evening commitments. SV2’s benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403b retirement plan with employer match, funds for professional development, thirteen paid holidays, and five weeks of paid time off per year.
