Renaissance seeks a Center Director to oversee the administration and delivery of programs and services for a diverse community of English- and Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The Center Director oversees staff and contract consultants, and is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating programs designed to foster lasting economic development through entrepreneurship for underserved East Bay communities.

Qualifications & Skills
Passion for Renaissance’s mission and vision
Knowledge of general business practices, applicable laws, ordinances and regulations related to small business ownership and operations, and ability to convey these to emerging entrepreneurs
A combination of at least 10 years of experience in small business, knowledge of the field of microenterprise, community economic development, and/or senior management in administering programs for under-resourced communities
Demonstrated capacity in assessment and evaluation, problem-solving and successful administration of simultaneous projects as demand, funding and conditions change
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strength in making presentations to individuals and groups, and in writing clear and concise program proposals and reports
Ability to convey information to diverse audiences in a clear, constructive way
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate a compelling and inspired sense of purpose; knack for managing and inspiring a diverse group of people to optimize each other and the team; capacity to identify skills in and recruit consultants, instructors, and volunteers
Comfort working in a small, highly communicative, collaborative, fast-paced, process-oriented, and mission-driven organization
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree(s) welcome but not required
Availability for flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
Ability to travel to remote training sites and events
responsibilities and tasks
Plan, develop, implement, manage and evaluate the delivery of services to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, with a special emphasis on East Contra Costa County
Oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of programs and services including training classes, workshops, 1:1 consultations and events to support entrepreneurs at all stages of business launch and growth; develop new programs in response to community programmatic needs
Develop annual goals for the East Bay center that are in alignment with the needs of the local communities, the organization’s strategic plan, and government, foundation and corporate funding grants and deliverables
Serve as the lead spokesperson for the East Bay Center with partner organizations, at meetings, conferences, community events and other forums. Maintain stakeholder engagement with business and economic development partners, community organizations, and other resource providers.
Oversee community outreach and marketing strategies to attract new and existing clients including tabling events, weekly newsletters, partnerships and promotional materials
Participate in fundraising for the East Bay including prospect research, donor cultivation and stewardship, and grant proposal preparation and submittals
Cultivate and steward relationships with diverse stakeholders including clients, local economic development departments, community partners, funders and businesses
Oversee the recruitment and management of consultants and volunteers who deliver client services
Manage multiple funding streams and budgets, compliance and quarterly/annual reporting; work collaboratively with the finance department to ensure appropriate allocation of costs. Coordinate with the finance department on accounts payable processing and the development and managements of grant budgets
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Center’s programs and services through client outcome tracking, feedback surveys and ongoing data collection
Coach and inspire, supervise and evaluate the East Bay team, encouraging growth and professional development
Work with the East Bay team to submit timely reports and success stories to communicate the impact of our work to a variety of stakeholders
Ensure the Center’s day-to-day operations are efficient and effective
Provide business consulting support to clients as needed
Serve on the organization’s Leadership Team
COmpensation and Benefits
