Nuestra Casa is seeking an Environmental Justice Bilingual Promotora who is passionate about working with the community, connecting them to resources, and collaborating with partner organizations. The role involves supporting the dissemination of information, attending community events, and participating in field trips related to Environmental Justice.

Qualifications
Must be passionate about Nuestra Casa’s mission.
Bilingual/bicultural in English/Spanish.
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Justice or a closely related field is preferred. However, consideration will be given to candidates whose background aligns with the mission and work of our organization.
Strong passion and commitment to social and environmental justice.
Knowledge of issues of immigrant communities and low-income people.
Strong ties to this geographical area or who have demonstrated experience working closely with our communities.
Ability to engage a diverse community for social justice.
Ability to navigate challenging situations and ambiguity.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal verbal communication and writing skills, with sensitivity to appropriate delivery depending on target audience.
Ability to understand and apply information and acquired skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends regularly.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and ability to troubleshoot basic software and computer equipment problems.
Current California Driver’s License in good standing with a personally owned and insured vehicle to drive on work-related business.
Responsibilities
Disseminate information about environmental justice projects to the community and serve as a trusted messenger.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ensuring that our community messages promote trust and cooperation.
Collaborate effectively within a team and provide support as needed to ensure the successful completion of all deliverables.
Attend and support outdoor activities such as the Estuary Youth Council trips and Bay Clean-Up Events.
Support local workshops and community meetings throughout South San Mateo County and beyond with other local partners
Support with various projects such as the Environmental Protection Agency air quality work, Canopy, and the EJ Academy.
Attend and support tabling events.
Responsible for ensuring that all agency policies and procedures are followed.
Document and maintain a thorough record of work performed.
COmpensation and Benefits
The Environmental Justice Bilingual Promotora will pay $24-26 an hour. This position is part-time 10-20 hours per week. Does not offer medical/dental/vision benefits or vacation time. Sick time is accrued according to CA standards. The position becomes permanent after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.
