The County of San Mateo Office of Sustainability is offering funding assistance to government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions through their 4Rs Grants Program. The 4Rs Grants Program’s primary objective is to help eligible organizations create and implement reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot (compost) programs in San Mateo County. The call for applications will take place on Mon, January 25th, 2021 with a deadline of Mon, March 8th, 2021.

San Mateo County Union Community Alliance and Local Apprenticeship Programs are now offering a certificated Apprenticeship-Readiness Training course designed to prepare trainees to enter a green construction career ladder through state certified joint apprenticeship training programs. All interested applicants are invited to join a mandatory 2021 Tip Orientation covering everything you need to know about getting into and completing the program successfully.
TIP San Mateo encourages women, veterans, at-risk-youth and underserved populations to apply.

Hosted by Urban Habitat, the Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute (BCLI) is a unique, free training program that supports residents (including youth) from low-income communities of color who are committed to advancing social justice, to serve on a public board or commission in their community. This six-month program helps participants to: 1) understand the local decision-making and policy process, 2) navigate the culture and language of commissions, and 3) it provides participants with individualized support throughout their commission service. Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) is now accepting nominations for its 2021 awards program, which honors those who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainable practices. Sustainability Award nominations may be made in five categories: individuals, nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies. SSMC will celebrate the 2021 awardees at its 22nd annual Awards Celebration in 2021.
In addition, SSMC is accepting nominations for its 19th annual Green Building Award, which it cosponsors with the San Mateo Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Peninsula Clean Energy is providing first-time electric vehicle buyers in San Mateo County a rebate of $1,000 towards the cost of a new fully electric vehicle (EV), and $700 for a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) purchased between Oct. 1 through Dec. 31.
Peninsula Clean Energy is also providing San Mateo County residents the opportunity to experience driving an EV with a $200 rebate toward the rental of an EV, and assistance in setting up at-home or at-dealership test drives.
