Silicon Valley Community Foundation 2019 Regional Meeting
Join SVCF and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, filmmaker and immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at our annual Regional Meeting. Every year we bring the community together together to discuss timely issues impacting our region. This year the conversation will focus on civic participation: why it is important and how SVCF and partners are working to make sure everyone's voice is heard.
Vargas will share the story of his childhood journey to America from the Philippines, reflections on growing up in Silicon Valley and learnings from his work as an immigration reform activist. A free copy of Vargas’ new book, Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen, will be provided to the first 200 guests to check in at the event, and an optional book signing will follow the program. Attendees can also look forward to an update on SVCF's work in the community from President and CEO Nicole Taylor, as well as providing input as part of our strategic planning process.
Agenda:
2:30 p.m. - Check-in and reception with light refreshments
3:30 p.m. - Program begins
Optional book signing to follow
