Technology for Social Good Speaker Series
Session 1
Community-First Tech
From automating marketing and streamlining donor data to building online fundraising campaigns, technology has provided a new world of opportunity for nonprofits to make a bigger impact. As such, SVCN’s Technology for Social Good Speaker Series will bring together nonprofit professionals to share and learn how different technologies have helped spark new ideas and positive change in their communities. The three-part series will highlight successful tech-nonprofit partnerships and how nonprofits have engaged with the tech world to move their missions forward.
The first session of this three-part series will include a panel of individuals who have engaged in tech-nonprofit partnerships in some way. Whether it is starting a nonprofit to engage marginalized communities in tech education, developing a tech tool to advance a mission, or advocating with tech companies to uplift rather than displace communities, our speakers will talk about the ways in which they’ve seen successful and impactful tech partnerships.
Speakers:
Dr. Chris Benner, Professor and Director of the Everett Program for Technology and Social Change, UC Santa Cruz
Lena Carew, Chief of Organizational Health, The Justice Collective
Fahad Qurashi, South Bay Director of Programming, TechEquity Collaborative
Refreshments will be served.
