Home Could Be Here BBQ
We’re teaming up with Street Life Ministries to host a BBQ to draw awareness to the severity of the housing shortage, and to call on the Caltrain Board to take action.
We want people to be fed today, and housed tomorrow. You’re cordially invited to join our Home Could Be Here campaign kickoff. Come enjoy some great food and music, and stand with us for affordable homes on public land!
In the past three years, the number of people living in their cars in San Mateo County has almost doubled. We have thousands of residents who sleep on the sidewalks, in their backseats, or in parks in order to stay alive. Meanwhile, Caltrain has postponed a policy that would prioritize affordable housing on the land they lease or sell. Their staff is negotiating backroom deals to lease their public land, while our cities struggle to find transit-rich sites for affordable homes.
We know the long-term solutions. Street Life Ministries, a Redwood City-based church, provides hot meals for people who have to sleep in their cars at night. Together, we're standing up for housing solutions.
