CalNonprofits: Implementing Assembly Bill 5: Employees or Contractors?
Assembly Bill 5 became California law in 2019 and requires employers, including nonprofits, to convert certain independent contractors to employees unless they fit into one of the exceptions to the law. A new law passed this year adds to the list of exceptions, but there are still many circumstances in which nonprofits may have to reclassify independent contractors as employees. If you're confused, you're not alone. Join CalNonprofits, in partnership with Public Counsel, for a webinar discussion to learn when the law requires a nonprofit to convert independent contractors to employees, when it doesn’t, and how to do it when it does.
