During this discussion experts will explain the implications of AB5 for the nonprofit community, what they need to do to comply with the new law and the potential consequences of misclassifying workers.

Jonna Schaff Mooney, Principal, Affogato HR Consulting

Jonna Schaff Mooney is a certified HR professional with over twenty five years of experience as a generalist, business partner, and HR leader. Most of her experience is in small to mid-sized companies and nonprofits facing challenges around their growth and changing business climate. Prior to co-founding Affogato HR Consulting in 2018, Jonna was a member of the Melita Group HR Services team from 2009. Before consulting, she was VP, HR at publicly-traded CDC Software, held HR Director positions at privately-held Omneon and Velosel, and HR management roles at Cadence Design Systems and Sherpa. Jonna has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from UCLA, which taught her how to think and solve problems logically. She has held HR certifications since 1993 and today is a Senior Professional in Human Resources with an additional state-specific certification in California (SPHR-CA) and a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). She also holds the Society for Human Resources Management SHRM-SCP certification.

Nori Jabba, President, Jabba Development Strategies, LLC

Nori Jabba has more than 20 years of cross-sector experience. Nori brings both big picture and detail skills to client projects and loves to help companies, organizations and projects grow and develop through strategic communications, planning, partnerships and relationships. As a dedicated community leader, Nori has volunteered for and helped support numerous community nonprofits over the years and served on several boards and committees. Key areas of support include affordable housing, historic preservation, and education. An accredited new urbanist, Nori is passionate about placemaking and smart growth and holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from George Washington University and a B.A. from Grinnell College.

Shivani Sutaria, Shivani Sutaria Law Offices

Shivani Sutaria is an employment law attorney and workplace investigator in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the founder of Shivani Sutaria Law Offices in San Mateo, CA. Her firm focuses on 1) Conducting External Workplace Investigations, 2) Providing Advice and Counsel to Employers, and 3) Presenting Trainings to Employees and Employers. Prior to starting her own firm in 2014, Shivani worked at a San Francisco law firm litigating employment disputes in state and federal court as well as before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, DFEH, WCAB and DLSE. Shivani received her Juris Doctor from University of San Francisco School of Law, her Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Southern California, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from University of California, San Diego. Shivani is a graduate of the Association of Workplace Investigators’ (AWI) Training Institute and is an AWI Certificate Holder (AWI-CH).
